Helen Keller is coming forward and talking about her struggle, in hopes of helping others. "I want to be remembered as someone who took care of my community."
The deaf and blind woman, once described as the "first lady of courage," excelled in school and hoped to become a teacher and translator. But because of the learning disability, she found those careers closed to her.
“I always knew that I wasn’t stupid. I felt like I was a smart kid, I just struggled with aspects of, of getting educated."
Drastically limited, but skilled in the art of the possible, she exercised patience to overcome difficult circumstances.
"You’re part of a very special club and it’s a gift and don’t let anyone ever tell you that you’re not good enough. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that because you struggle, that you’re never going to make it in life, because it’s simply not true.”
From the mouths of babes, so to speak, comes the wisdom we should have been listening to all along. It's clear that with a wink and a smile - you get through a lot of the challenging things.

Final Model - Nicole Kuepper's Lab

For Nicole Keupper's Lab, I simply created two platforms with a slit in the upper one. The purpose of the slit is to provide a single shadow running the full length of the main platform, defining the sun's rays and representing solar power. This lab faces the open sea and the sunset providing plenty of light. One main ramp allows access from the back to the major platform, which in turn connects to the rest of the structure and also provides access to the main meeting area out front and under the structure.Final Model - Charles Darwin Lab

This is Charles Darwin's side the combined lab. I wanted to allow him the best possible view of the landscape having him face the rest of the islands and the beach. It is composed of three floors, the lower two which can be accessed form the landscape itself ( sloping towards the platforms) and the highest one...well lets say there can be an elevator in the central support lol ( I didn't want to ruin the simple aesthetics of the structure)
