Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família
The Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, or the Sagrada Família is one of my favorite buildings, firstly because it's Cathedral, and secondly because it mixes modern and gothic architecure.
The Gothic Cathedral is a perfect fusion of architecture and engineering, but Gaudi moved it to the next level. Changing the strict geometric shapes to almost random naturally inspired forms. The carvings in the stone achieve a new level of fluidity and perfection, and the traditional parabolic arches and vaults were replaced by inverted catenary curves. It always amazes me and will never become dated due to it's genuine originality.
