These stairs were designed for Studio B form my cross sections. This was my first attempt at a studio design for Patricia Piccinini and Ricky Swallow. The words I wanted to express in these are Isolated(Overground - Based on Piccinini's sculpture) and Youth (underground - Based on one of Swallow's watercolours).
I wanted a light weight staircase connecting the individual studios, to hold the stairs up by the roof. The staircase leading to the ground floor needs to be monumental; practical and sculptural at the same time. The image below is Inspired by Carlo Scarpia - but it seems a little bit too crowded. I want to find a way where i can compromise between form and function for that particular stair
