These stairs were designed for Studio A form my cross sections. It is my second attempt at a studio design for Patricia Piccinini and Ricky Swallow. The words I wanted to express in these are Youth (Overground - based on a watercolour) and Isolated (underground - Based on Piccinini's sculpture). I wanted the staircases to be substantially different, resulting in a heavy monumental staircase for the exterior and a light spiral reaching up from the underground studio.Even though the spiral might not be so practical to transport Piccinini's works, it still expressed youth. Everyone loves a good spiral staircase to run up and down :P and there will probably be some industrial elevator somewhere to make things easier for her lol.
This Studio is all about the hard clean cut geometry, kida like lego blocks right out of a childs toy room.
